Measure before choosing
- Record available width and depth, including baseboards, cabinet handles and nearby doors.
- Compare the model’s closed height, open-lid height and any rear clearance with your space.
- Allow access to the pedal or sensor and room to remove a filled bag or inner bucket.
- For cabinet systems, compare clear internal dimensions, opening width, plumbing and the specified mounting requirements.
- If an essential dimension is missing, obtain it from the manufacturer before ordering.
Check liner fit by model
A liner must fit the rim and reach the bottom with enough material for the specified retention method. A matching gallon or litre number alone cannot establish this. Simplehuman lists Code N at 45–50 L and Code P at 50–60 L; those overlapping ranges are a reason to check the actual can’s liner code, not assume the bags are interchangeable. Features and running costs
Compare the current can price plus the liners, power supply and replacement parts you actually need. Check whether an advertised soft-close lid, liner ring, filter or removable bucket is included in the exact model. A latch is not a universal childproof or petproof guarantee. Follow the maker’s cleaning and power-isolation instructions; finish coatings and sensor housings may require different care.
